I fully believe that teaching is my calling. As a child, I set up a classroom for my dolls and taught them a variety of subjects. Since then, of course, I have received more instruction in the fine art of teaching, including a B.S. in Elementary Education from Stevenson University. After graduating, I taught third and fifth grade students in all academic subjects for years, and I became especially passionate about teaching core subjects like reading and math, which many young students struggle with. Although I left my position as an elementary school teacher to raise my children, I continue my teaching career in many different ways, including homeschooling my children, working with the Children's Ministry at my church, and now, working as a tutor. I believe that children learn better when they receive one-on-one instruction or work in small groups with the teacher. It is important to me, as a tutor, to get to know the children I teach and build a strong relationship with them, so that they can feel comfortable enough with me to ask questions and learn new concepts. I want to get to know the whole child I tutor, including their hobbies and after school activities, so I can determine which approach best helps them.
