Experience
My goal as a tutor is to help my students improve their math skills. In particular, my area of expertise has always been in business-related math courses such as accounting, finance, and economics. My college career made me aware of the fact that many students struggle with these subjects. I think that this struggle occurs for two reasons. 1. Business scholars often miss out on the bigger picture when teaching these classes. When a student is bombarded with numbers so frequently, they find it difficult to see how all of the numbers fit together. 2. Many students lack the motivation to stay invested in quantitative business courses for as long as it takes to become successful in them. This is where I come in as a tutor. In my experience tutoring at the University of Kansas, tutoring in various high schools, and assisting professors with college classes, I have adopted a hands-on method. I have found that my students learn best when they are encouraged to put concepts together on their own. My bachelor's degree is in accounting and finance, and my master's degree is in finance. I did my undergrad work at the University of Kansas, and my graduate work at American University. My hobbies include sports, cooking, and outdoor adventures.
