Experience

As someone who's passionate about teaching and helping others, I've been working as an educator in some form or another throughout my adult life. At the moment, I teach English as a Second Language in the high school setting, where I help immigrants and children of immigrants improve their understanding of the English language. I believe that the most effective way to be a teacher is to be patient and always willing to go the extra step to see your students succeed. For this reason, I work to make sure that my students aren't only speaking English correctly, but also have the confidence to use their language skills inside the classroom and when they're out in the world. The key to mastering a second language is being confident enough so that you don't feel self-conscious when you use it. I teach my students that it's okay to make mistakes initially, as long as they're using the language and working to improve their English skills. Ultimately, it's my job to help them fix their mistakes - they just need to be comfortable with speaking. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia, as well as a master's degree from Pittsburg State University.
